Sharpsburg Hometown Hero Program
(Funding for this program provided by a grant from the District Association)
The Borough of Sharpsburg, with a funding grant provided by the Fox Chapel District Association, is proud tohonor our servicemen and servicewomen by facilitating the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. This program is a banner tribute created for communities to recognize and honor residents who are serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces. Each banner will honor a specific service person and will include their name, branch of service, medals of valor and a photo (if provided). The Hometown Hero must also either be a current or previous resident of Sharpsburg Borough. An immediate family member of a current or previous serviceman or woman of Sharpsburg will also suffice. Banners will be displayed on Freeport Road from Memorial Day to Veteran’s Day to honor and celebrate their dedication to our country.
Sharpsburg Borough Hometown Heroes program applications are chosen on a “first come, first served” basis. The banners will change annually. Banners are also limited to one banner per family with the expectation that families with more than one service person will submit them in future years. Applications will be closed upon reaching financial and/or space limitations that the Borough has available.
The applicant/sponsor will be notified as soon as possible regarding approval of the application. The application fee is required before the application is submitted for the banner to be created. If we are unable to accept your application, there will be no charge. We will process applications as quickly as possible and return your photo to you.
This program includes:
1. One 24 x 36 banner to be displayed by the borough. (Banners are two-sided honoring two service persons.
2. Web presence on the Sharpsburg Hometown Heroes website page (troopbanners.com)
3. Two 12 x 18 banners for sponsor use. Additional banners are available for $10.00 each.
