Fox Chapel Area School District

Public school students living in Sharpsburg from kindergarten through the twelfth grade obtain their education through the Fox Chapel Area School District. Those in Elementary School living in Sharpsburg attend Kerr Elementary through fifth grade. There is one middle school and one high school within the district. In addition to Sharpsburg, the district serves the surrounding communities of: Aspinwall, Blawnox, Fox Chapel, Indiana and O’Hara.

There are three school board members who represent the region of Sharpsburg and some portions of O’Hara Township. Borough residents elect these board members to their positions. Shady Side Academy

One of the oldest independent schools in Western Pennsylvania, Shady Side enrolls more than 900 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 on three unique campuses. The Ellis School

Established in 1916, The Ellis School is Pittsburgh’s only age 3 – grade 12 independent girls’ school. The campus is located in the East End neighborhood of Shadyside, 5 miles from downtown. To learn more about The Ellis School, visit the website.

Winchester Thurston School 

Winchester Thurston School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school with two campuses: a Pre-Kindergarten through grade five at the North Hills Campus in Allison Park and a Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 City Campus in Shadyside.

The Watson Institute

The Watson Institute is a Pennsylvania’s Approved Private Schools, providing education to children with special needs. It operates a special education preschool program involving children with autism spectrum disorder and their typically-developing peers; offers inclusive summer camp programs and provides child assessment and therapy for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. Watson institute also provides educational programming with a partial hospital component to children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances. Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy

Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy is a part of the North Hills Regional Catholic Elementary Schools providing a Catholic educational program for students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through eight. Located in Aspinwall, PA, the school currently serves families residing in the Fox Chapel, Shaler, Hampton, Riverview, Deer Lakes, Allegheny Valley,  Penn Hills, Highlands, and Pittsburgh school districts.
